Work With Our Students

Abertay is a dynamic and forward looking university. Our students are our greatest resource. We actively encourage industry to engage in our teaching and research programmes through industry liaison panels, work experience opportunities and workshops.

Students will bring an up-to-date skillset, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn to your business.

Our students and graduates bring:

  • Technical skills
  • Innovative ideas
  • Fresh insight
  • Creative approaches to problem-solving
  • Professionalism
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, curiosity and eagerness to learn

Industrial Liaison Panels

Industrial Liaison Panels provide guidance on programme design, feedback on our graduates performance and guidance on the relevance of our research activities.

Industrial relevance of our programmes and research work is a key driver for the University and the Panels support this aim. This is enhanced by contributions from practitioners to our lectures, tutorials and project work so that our students and industry interact from an early stage.

For more information about Industry Liaison Panels, contact business@abertay.ac.uk.

Work Placements

Gaining relevant work-based experience is at the core of many of our degree programmes. Hosting a student work placement can add real value to your business.

Our courses are designed to offer flexibility to help businesses and organisations the opportunity to offer work placements or projects.  These can vary from one day a week to a short-term full-time placement and cover areas from sport to science to marketing to management.

If you have a project or other opportunity you would like to offer to a student, please email careers@abertay.ac.uk to discuss further.

Masters Students Projects at the Graduate School

Many employers have projects that they would like to implement but simply don't have the time, resource or in-house skills to drive these forward. Making the Most of Masters‌ could be the solution.

The Graduate School can help link employers with highly-skilled and motivated Masters students to undertake this work. Abertay takes a flexible approach – employers can host students in the workplace, or mentor students as they work on employer-informed projects within the University.

We can help you refine an idea into a suitable research project that will benefit the your business and provide appropriate academic merit for the student. Student are supervised by an Abertay academic and because the project forms an integral part of the Masters degree, employers are not required to pay a salary to the student.
