By Train: Dundee Station

The Abertay campus is around a 10-minute walk to/from Dundee train station. Taxis are available outside the main entrance.

For timetables and tickets, check National Rail Enquiries and book via ScotRail or LNER. Booking in advance is usually cheaper.

By Bus/Coach

Dundee’s main bus station (Seagate) is around a 10-minute walk from campus and there are nearby stops on multiple routes.

For long-distance travel and local services, check your chosen operator’s timetable before you travel.

By Plane

There are three major international airports you can fly into: Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. 

Edinburgh is the closest, but all of them are less than a two-hour drive from Dundee. Dundee has an airport which operates two domestic flights to and from London Heathrow Airport per day, so flying here from London is an option.

Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport is the UK's 6th busiest airport, with 221 routes from/to 157 destinations worldwide. You can get to Abertay from Edinburgh Airport by train, bus or car in less than 2 hours. 

• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Train - you can get to Edinburgh Gateway station by tram from right outside the airport terminal. Or you can get a tram or bus into Edinburgh city centre and get a train from either  Waverley or Haymarket stations. The time it takes depends on where you leave from. We are a short walk from Dundee train station, or 10-15 minutes by taxi. Taxis can be found outside the station.

• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Coach - this takes just over 1 hour 20 minutes. The most direct ways are the Ember Electric Bus service or the Fly Xplore Bus Service. You need to book both ahead of time.

• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Car - this takes roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. If you are driving, there is the Bell Street carpark next door, and other city centre car parks nearby. 

• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay by Taxi - this trip costs approximately £150-£200. There are taxis outside the airport, but we recommend pre-booking a taxi transfer as that can save you money. 

• Edinburgh Airport to Abertay on Foot - this takes 20 hours according to Google maps. You might want to adjust that figure depending on the weather and the route you choose. 

Dundee Airport

Dundee Airport is the most convenient fly-in destination for the University, and operates two flights every weekday to/from London Heathrow, with a reduced service at weekends. You can book via the Loganair website. 

Taxis are available outside the Airport and should take about ten minutes to get to campus. You can also walk, which takes about 45 minutes, or cycle here in approximately 15 minutes.

If you prefer to book a taxi ahead of time, there are a number of local Dundee taxi firms - just search for 'Dundee airport taxi' or 'airport taxi Dundee' or similar.
