Students with Caring Responsibilities
Carers Trust identify Carers or Students with Caring Responsibilies as 'A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a family member or friend who, due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support. There are over 30,000 carers in Scotland but we don't know exactly how many. Some may keep their caring role hidden or they may not even realise they are a carer so they don't seek help'.
Abertay acknowledge that many students face challenges whilst at University from monetary to medical conditions to complex family circumstances including being responsible for supporting and providing care for a family member or friend. Student Services want all students to be aware of the various support, guidance and information available throughout the student journey from admissions to graduation and beyond.
Should you need assistance or simply have a question - Student Services is here to support you.
