Where to access urgent help when the Counselling Service is out-of-hours.

Urgent help

The Counselling Service is available Mon - Fri, 9.00am - 5.00pm. If you require assistance out-of-hours, please read below.

In a crisis, you can contact your GP for an appointment to discuss your needs, or NHS24 by phoning 111 (free service).

Additional support provided by external agencies include:

  • Insights Counselling - a local counselling service that provides confidential, non-judgemental, 1-2-1 counselling by appointment. For further details, you can phone 01382 305706 or visit their website.

  • Breathing Space Scotland - provides telephone counselling. Open: Weekdays - Mon - Thurs, 6.00pm - 2.00am. Fri 6.00pm - Mon 2.00am. You can phone them on 0800 83 85 87.

  • Samaritans - provides a 24/7, 365 day a year telephone service. You can phone them on 116 123 (free service) or you can email: jo@samaritans.org.uk 

  • Other Resources - a list of other recommended self-help resources.
