Bela investigates financial fraud as an Analyst for Deloitte Poland.

BSc (Hons) Psychology, 2014

What does your current job involve?

I am an Analyst working in Deloitte Poland investigating financial fraud according to the firm’s Anti Money laundering policy. I believe my experience at Abertay coupled with my versatile background granted me this position.

What was your most memorable moment as a student?

The best thing about Abertay is that you can come up with your own research idea for your Honours project. For example, my own project looked into using mobile video goggles and eye-tracker technology to improve golf performance. Because I used to play football, I thought it would be great to carry out similar research testing football players’ eye movements during a penalty kick task, so I approached Ken - who is an expert in perception.

However, thinking about practicalities, we settled on something a bit smaller in scale so that we could use the excellent facilities Abertay has on campus. This collaborative work based on Ken’s eye tracker research in the Abertay’s “HIVE” - the Human Interactive Virtual Environment - gave me an invaluable experience into the world of a researcher.

Abertay has been an excellent place to study, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

What is your lasting impression of Abertay and Dundee?

Although it has been a few years since I graduated, I am still in touch with most of the friends I made during my time at Abertay. There are several societies and sport teams to join and there is a fantastic international society with lots of good parties. On top of that I met my future wife in Dundee, so the city will always be a special place for me.

Do you have any advice for students/international students coming to Abertay?

I chose Abertay because it was a relatively young university with passionate lecturers who had graduated from prestigious institutions from across Europe. It was also ranked as Scotland's leading modern university for psychology research in 2008.

The strength of Abertay is its incredibly passionate lecturers who will help you in any way they can. To prove the high quality teaching, some of my classmates have managed to secure a place at prestigious universities such as Kings College London and UCL. Abertay has been an excellent place to study, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
