This joint honours programme provides a combination of both fields, invaluable to any company to help improve its overall productivity, performance and profit.

What you study

What you study
Human resource management is a fascinating field. It’s all about attracting and retaining the right people for an organisation, making sure employees are happy, healthy and able to work to the best of their abilities. During the programme, you will develop a specialist knowledge of human resource management, along with a broad range of core business skills.

Example modules
Resourcing and Talent Planning; Employee Relations and Engagement; The Future of Work; International Business and Management; and Managing across Cultures.

Minimum Entrance Requirements

Maths and English: All applicants in English and Maths/Lifeskills Maths in any of the following: National 5 grade C or GCSE grade C/4

Higher BBBB; A Level CCC; Irish Highers H3H3H3H3; BTEC Extended Diploma MMM; International Baccalaureate 28 Points to include a literate subject at S5 or H4

Advanced Higher: BBB (to include Business Management)

If you have the potential and motivation to study at university, regardless of your background or personal circumstances, we welcome your application.

We know that some people have faced extra challenges before applying to university and that is why we consider the background in which your academic grades have been achieved when making an offer. 

If you expect to receive passes in 3 Scottish Highers (grades A-C) and have:

  • been in care, or
  • participated in a targeted aspiration-raising programme such as LIFT OFF, LEAPS, FOCUS West, or Aspire North
  • no family background of going to university, or
  • live in an area, or attend a school, where not many people go to university.

We encourage you to submit an application.

International Applicants
You must provide certified proof of your English language level (minimum requirements are listed here).  Our British Council accredited International English Foundation Course can help you reach that level or, if you would like further develop your academic English, Intensive English for Academic Purposes can help you achieve your full potential.

Your career
This programme prepares you for a range of careers within all of the sectors - private, public and non-profit. All organisations require talented staff and people grounded in human resources and business management offer a bandwidth of skills that can slot into many jobs.  Graduates can go on to work as HR officers and recruitment consultants as well as in a myriad of management roles.

Industry experience
You have the option of undertaking a work placement in third year, allowing you to gain valuable industry experience and contacts. Throughout the programme, guest speakers from organisations such as HMRC, Dundee City Council, Stoneridge Electronics and Dovetail Enterprises will provide practical industry insights.
