Chair of Court Vacancy

The University is seeking to appoint the next Chair of its governing body, the University Court. We are looking for someone with experience of senior leadership or governance roles in private, public or third sector organisations who has a strong personal interest in, and commitment to, higher education.
The University values equality and diversity and is particularly keen to receive applications from women, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minorities.
You would be required to make a commitment of around 30 days per year to attend meetings of Court and committees of Court plus attending additional one-off events and being generally available to the University. The position is not paid, but the University does pay travel costs and other essential expenses such as childcare.

The University Court is the Governing Body of the University and its powers are set out in the University’s constitutional document, which is ‘The University of Abertay Dundee (Scotland) Order of Council 1994’. Court is made up of a maximum of 25 members including independent core and co-opted members, ex-officio members and staff and student members. Independent members remain an absolute majority. Court meets at least five times each year.
