Abertay food experts in saucy revolution

Abertay food experts in saucy revolution

A uniquely Scottish contribution to the international condiment market has been launched this week with the help of Food Innovation @ Abertay. Specialist sauce company Necessaucery Ltd has unveiled its new Iron Brew Sauce and Iron Brew Hot Sauce designed to give a distinctively Scottish flavour anywhere a sauce is wanted. Necessaucery founder Kenny Mills came up with the idea when searching for ingredients for the family dinner.  Finding the cupboard bare, an ‘iron-brew-coloured lightbulb lit up in his head’, and culinary experimentation began. Paisley-based Mills then enlisted Abertay University’s specialist consultancy unit Food Innovation @ Abertay to tweak and test the recipes and develop the two new products – Iron Brew and Iron Brew Hot sauces. Kenny Mills said:  'We’re hoping for nothing less than a sauce revolution. 'We felt the time was right for a real alternative, and, with our Iron Brew sauces, we want to blaze a taste trail for fellow flavour adventurers.' Mills is adamant that although the new sauces are designed to be used every day, in all sorts of ways, they’re far from being a foodie fad.  'Our Iron Brew sauces are so versatile. They can be used instead of the usual sauce suspects on bacon, sausages and burgers, and we recommend them for dipping, glazing and marinading, too. 'Our sauces are also brilliant as an alternative ingredient for creative cookery, and for jazzing up everything from weekday dinners to party food.' Kenny Mills hopes his new sauces will shake up condiment convention for good, and with their distinctive flavour and flaming orange colour, you’ll soon be seeing these audacious outsiders on everyone’s sauce shelf.
