Programme Overview

Ready to develop the global perspective demanded by today's organisations? This programme fundamentally transforms how you approach challenges, make decisions and create value. Develop the strategic mindset that allows you to see opportunities where others see obstacles, whether you're managing a local team with global implications or leading international expansion initiatives.

Shape the future of global business

Organisations often wrestle with volatile markets, data overload and culturally mixed teams. Abertay’s data-driven, human-centred MSc International Management equips you to make confident global decisions, deliver sustainable results and move faster into leadership.

At Dundee Business School (DBS), we believe in being data-driven but human-centric, which means using analytics and insights to inform decisions while keeping people at the heart of everything we do. This approach runs through every aspect of this programme, preparing you to create ethical, inclusive and sustainable solutions that benefit organisations, stakeholders and society.

Whether you're launching your management career or aiming to take it to the next level, the MSc International Management will equip you with the knowledge, analytical skill and practical expertise needed to lead effectively.

Flexible study options

You can begin your studies in September or January to suit your schedule. Full-time students will complete the degree in one year (September start) or 16 months (January start). The academic year consists of three terms, with your Master's dissertation completed in the final term under expert supervision. Alternatively, you can spread your studies over two years, allowing you to balance professional and academic commitments.

Why International Management matters

Today's managers operate in a world where local decisions can have global implications. Without understanding this broader context, even well intentioned decisions can prove shortsighted or ineffective.

Global awareness is essential. It enables you to:

  • Navigate international markets with confidence

  • Develop cultural competencies that drive collaboration

  • Lead inclusively across diverse teams

  • Anticipate risks and seize opportunities in volatile environments

  • Make purchasing and staffing decisions that reflect global realities

This perspective opens doors across all sectors. Even within the public sector, for example, contemporary managers make decisions about procurement and personnel that require understanding of global markets and cultural dynamics.

Learning outcomes

By the end of your time with Abertay, you’ll have turned academic theory into a portable, evidence‑backed toolkit—one that lets you translate insight into action and lead teams who may not share a postcode or timezone. In short, you’ll be ready to:

Drive strategic innovation

Synthesise advanced theories, empirical evidence and professional practices to devise innovative strategies that tackle complex challenges on both local and international scales.
