Scottish and EU students

If you're a Scottish or EU domiciled undergraduate student studying full-time at a Scottish University, then the Students Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) will pay your undergraduate tuition fees providing you are not repeating a period of study, or currently hold a first degree qualification.

English, Northern Irish and Welsh (rUK) students

If you're a student from England, Wales or Northern Ireland, you can apply to Student Finance Online Services for a tuition fee loan to cover the cost of your tuition fees. The loan is not means tested.

You should seek advice from the relevant student finance organisation depending on where you live outlined below.

International students

If you're an international student from outside of the EU, then you're likely to pay overseas tuition fee rates and will not be entitled to help with tuition fees. You'll also be expected to have sufficient funds available to cover your tuition fees prior to starting each academic year.

As an undergraduate student, we understand that you’ll want to know what tuition fee you’ll need to pay in advance. This is why we offer a fee guarantee – the published tuition fee at the time of entry is the same you will pay for each year of your undergraduate degree.

Funding your living costs

Dundee is an inexpensive city and you can review typical living expenses for Dundee here.

Scottish Students

Students from Scotland can apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for supplementary grants to cover living costs. Applicants must apply online through the SAAS website by the appropriate deadline.

Scottish students who do not wish, or are not eligible, to take out a Student Loan and who do not qualify for any other supplementary grants, are still required to complete the SAAS Application Form for tuition fees.

EU Students

Support for living costs is not generally available to EU undergraduate students. However, if you've lived in the UK or have immediate family living or working in the UK, please check the SAAS eligibility criteria or contact our Advisory Service if you require any assistance.

English, Northern Irish and Welsh (rUK) students

All undergraduate students from England, Wales & Northern Ireland will automatically receive a scholarship of £9200 over four years, for which an annual amount of £2300 is paid directly into their bank accounts, to support living & travel costs.

Dependent on their circumstances, students from the UK can apply for support including a Maintenance Loan for living costs like rent (full-time students only), a Maintenance Grant (students from Wales and Northern Ireland only) and extra financial help if you have a disability, a partner on a low income or dependent children.

Abertay University also offer rUK Bursaries to support students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland where household income, as assessed by the Student Loans Company, is less than £34,000 per annum.

Part-Time Students

The Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) offers part-time students non repayable grants up to £1805 to cover tuition fees. You can find more information about part-time funding on the SAAS website. Alternatively, please review our part-time funding guide.
