The Roy Henderson Bursary

Overview

Two £300 bursaries available for autistic undergraduate fourth year students studying games-related courses in the Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

They must be entering their fourth year of undergraduate study at Abertay University.
Studying a games related course within the Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business.
Demonstrate commitment to their studies.

The bursary is open to autistic students from all backgrounds.

About the Roy Henderson Bursary

Katrina Henderson established the Roy Henderson Bursary for autistic students studying games related courses within the Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business.

'Our oldest child has ADHD, and our second child struggled with school following Covid. When he was tested for autism, the person carrying out the assessment turned to Roy and asked when he had received his diagnosis. She thought Roy showed many of the markers for autism himself...It would be really important to Roy that this money supports autistic students. He was also a big gamer and loved computing, so that’s why this bursary goes to students on Abertay’s games courses.'

Closing date: Monday 2 November 2026

All applicants will be notified about the outcome of their application as quickly as possible, and usually within 2 weeks of the deadline (unless otherwise stated).

Award conditions

Applicants are expected to meet the following conditions if they accept the award:

To complete a brief report or feedback form on the impact of the award and their progress at Abertay.
Give permission for parts of the report or feedback to be quoted in promotional materials.
To be willing to meet with representatives of the bursary if required.

Please contact Advisory at least 4 weeks before the application deadline. This is to ensure that there is enough time for staff to review your email, and for you to make alterations based on any feedback provided.

Advisory Service run Drop-In sessions on a first-come first-serve basis, during term time usually between 1pm-4pm, Monday to Thursday on the ground floor of the library. If you have a question about Drop-In sessions you can visit the SEZ desk in person, or email advisory@abertay.ac.uk
