Lawscot Foundation

The Law Society of Scotland Education Foundation: Bursary Award

Overview

The Lawscot Foundation is committed to supporting talented young people who have the potential to benefit from, and contribute to, the legal profession.

The aim is to ensure that, if you have drive and talent, money will not be a barrier to becoming a solicitor in Scotland. The Lawscot Foundation gives priority to individuals from less-advantaged backgrounds, so your social and economic situation will be taken into consideration.

The bursary covers each year of the LLB degree and postgraduate Diploma. The awards may vary but can be approximately £2,750 per year, totalling up to £13,750 by completion of your qualifications. Being supported by a mentor working in the legal profession is also part of the award.

As well as the bursary and mentoring, this is a career development programme. All successful applicants are expected to participate in a programme of career-enhancing events throughout the year.
