Biography
I am a Reader in Entrepreneurship and RKE Department Lead for Dundee Business School. I have extensive experience in research and teaching across several higher education institutions. Prior to joining Abertay University, I held full-time academic posts at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, and Otto-Friedrich-Universität, Bamberg. I attatined a PhD in Entrepreneurial Behaviour from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, in 2013.
My research work focuses on the social construction of entrepreneurship, looking at the social and moral obligations of enterprise work and the impact this has on the people involved. My work has appeared in internationally impactful academic journals, such as Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour & Research, Family Business Review, and the International Journal of Human Resource Management, among others. I am Associate Editor at the International Journal of Entrepreneurship & Innovation and currently serve as the Vice President for Research at the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
I have held visiting professor positions at Clermont School of Business and Antwerp Management School, along with external examination appointments at Lancaster Management School and Bradford University, where I current serve. I am an experienced examiner of doctoral theses and supervisor to several successful PhD completions.
My work contributes to the curriculum of the national Help to Grow Management programme and I serve as an assessor on Small Business Charter accreditations.
