A free public lecture is to take place on the potential for engineered soil to significantly tackle climate change.

Abertay University scientist Dr Ehsan Jorat is the guest speaker at the upcoming Café Science Dundee event, ‘Can Earth Save Climate Change?’

Soil naturally absorbs carbon dioxide and Dr Jorat will discuss his ground-breaking research to engineer it, making it capable of absorbing substantial amounts of CO2.

One thing I’m looking to get across in my talk is how simple it is for us as individuals to make a difference in the fight against climate change.

Dr Jorat said: “If we are to upscale this research it’s capable of making a huge difference in terms of CO2 reduction.

“However, one thing I’m looking to get across in my talk is how simple it is for us as individuals to make a difference in the fight against climate change.

“This is my first Café Science Dundee lecture and I’m very excited about it.”

The event takes place at 7pm on Monday 18 March at Avery & Co on South Tay Street.

It is non-bookable, and attendees are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
