Two student teams from Abertay proved victorious in the finals of this year's Scottish BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) Conference Cup competition, held at the University of St Andrews.
The national competition sees all institutional teams below BUCS League 1A compete against each other in a variety of sports including football, hockey, rugby, and tennis.
This year, the first time two Abertay teams competed in finals on the same day at the same venue, the Women's Football team took on rivals from the University of Dundee, comfortably beating them 4-1; whilst the Men's Rugby team faced-off against Robert Gordon University in a closer contest that saw them go up 13-12 after being awarded a penalty inside the opposition 22 during the final few minutes of the game.
Abertay Sports Development Officer and Manager of Abertay Sport, Mikey Devlin, said of the double success: "This is the first time Abertay have won two cup finals in one year, a fantastic achievement and a testament to drive and hard work of the student teams."
