Cyclists show pedal power in 2018 Tour de Tay

More than 170 cyclists have shown their pedal power to take part in the 2018 Tour de Tay cycling challenge.

The annual fundraiser by Abertay University - which is one of Tayside's biggest cycling events - raises money for the institution's Expanding Horizons Scholarship fund, giving students the opportunity to study abroad.

Participants had the option of taking part in a 50-mile cycle, or a shortened 25-mile route.

They set off at 9am, with the fastest cyclists crossing the finish line at around midday.

Carol Ann Smith, Abertay's Head of Alumni and Development said: "We're really pleased at the continued interest in the Tour de Tay. It's such an inclusive event with a lot of camaraderie.

"It wouldn't be possible without the support of our volunteers or our sponsors."

The event was sponsored by Thorntons, Leisure and Culture Dundee and Tactran.
