International Scientists Gather at Abertay

Scientists from across the world have visited Abertay as part of a biomedical sciences networking initiative, organised by Professor Nikolai Zhelev, Director of the Centre for Molecular Cellular Biosensor Research.

The ‘Science Without Borders and Barriers’ programme originally stemmed from discussions with scientists in Belarus and Poland who were interested in meeting Dundee’s large biomedical science community and grew to include visiting students from Bulgaria and Nigeria, and the Abertay Biomedical Science Society.

The group’s programme of activities, which has received funding from the European Commission Horizon2020 MOST scheme as well as the Polish Government, has encompassed both academia and industry, taking in visits to Abertay’s science labs, the University of Dundee’s Drug Discovery Unit and National Phenotypic Screening Centre, as well as different labs and companies across Dundee.
