Abertay Staff Member Completes 1000 Mile Challenge

Abertay Staff Member Completes 1000 Mile Challenge

An Abertay University Admissions Officer has completed a tough 1000-mile running challenge in memory of her mother.

Tina Robertson took on the charity effort in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and Ward 32 at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following the death of her beloved mum Christine, who died aged just 57 last year after a short battle with cancer.

Since she started running back in January, Tina has clocked up around 19 miles of running a week on top of her full-time job, caring for two children and a husband working shifts.

Upon completing her final mile, Tina said:

I wanted to do a challenge that would be difficult in order to try to raise as much as I could for Macmillan Cancer Support and Ward 32 at Ninewells Hospital where my mum stayed. I’ve done half marathons and 10k races before, but his challenge has been the hardest I have ever done, both physically and emotionally, and I can honestly say that I will never do it again.

Tina aims to raise £3,000 for her causes and is hopeful she will meet her target before the end of the year.

She added: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s sponsored me so far. Every donation I receive will go a long way in helping other people with this horrible disease.”

Donations can be made to Tina via her Go Fund Me page https://www.gofundme.com/tinarobertson
