TLE Conference 2016

TLE Conference 2016

Abertay is inviting you to come along to an exciting conference later this year. The Teaching and Learning Enhancement (TLE) Conference 2016 – called ‘Seeing Learning Differently’ – will take place on Wednesday 19 October, and more than 150 people are expected to attend. The focus of the conference is on exploring the challenges and opportunities for higher education teaching in an increasingly digitised age. It will also look at ways of dealing with demands from student bodies who expect a more flexible teaching experience. This year’s keynote speaker is Kerr Gardiner, Head of Learning Technology & Media Production at the University of Glasgow. His talk is entitled ‘Moving Centuries – the challenges and opportunities of creating a truly blended learning landscape.’ A poster presentation and buffet lunch will get underway before a series of shorter talks and workshops, hosted by Abertay staff and colleagues from across the United Kingdom. Dr Alastair Robertson, director of Teaching and Learning Enhancement at Abertay, said: ‘I am really excited about Abertay's forthcoming conference. Following an open call, we have put together a strong programme comprising contributions from across the UK. ‘These will showcase a range of existing good practice on themes such as student transitions, technology enhanced learning, enhancing the learning environment, graduate employability and academic development. ‘We are delighted about the level of interest and it is clear these are all priorities for the higher education sector. ‘As well as a choice of talks, interactive workshops and informal networking opportunities, we will be running sessions in our new active learning space, which is being fitted with state-of-the-art technologies to improve student engagement and which we hope will open up the possibilities for new ways of teaching and supporting learning, which is our central conference theme.’ A full conference running order, as well as details regarding registration fees (there is no charge for Abertay staff and students), can be found on the TLE Conference website.
