Abertay named the top modern university in Scotland

Abertay University has been ranked as the top modern university in Scotland by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017. Rising twelve places from last year, Abertay has shown one of the highest rises in the league table, moving from 97 to 85. Abertay is now the highest ranking university among all seven Scottish institutions known as modern universities, leapfrogging Robert Gordon University to take the top spot. These results see Abertay continuing a trend of improving its positioning in all three league tables this year, ranking 11 out of the 14 Scottish institutions measured in the Guardian University Guide 2017 and 11th in Scotland in the Complete University Guide, as well as increased overall satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2016. Professor Nigel Seaton, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Abertay University said: 'To be the highest ranking modern university in Scotland after climbing twelve places is fantastic news for Abertay. This reflects the hard work and commitment of our colleagues and student body right across the University.' The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017 rated all fifteen Scottish institutions in teaching quality, student experience, research quality, entry standards, graduate prospects, firsts and 2.1s, completion ratio and services/facilities spend. The full results can be found on the Sunday Times website from Sunday 25 September.
