Our student population is diverse, with a wide range of backgrounds, skills and experience on offer. Students and graduates are highly motivated and enthusiastic, eager to develop their workplace skills and enhance their commercial awareness.

Collaboration between higher education establishments and employers is essential in providing a workforce with the appropriate skills and flexibility for this demanding economy - and our students are actively encouraged to undertake work experience to improve their employability.

You can advertise graduate jobs, part-time/casual jobs, placements and internships to our students and graduates by registering with Abertay Connect. This service is free of charge. Please read our guidelines on advertising vacancies and our Employers Privacy Policy before posting your opportunities.

In addition, you can also promote your opportunities free of charge to other universities in Scotland by visiting the AGCAS website.

Abertay Mentoring Programme

Each year we run a careers mentoring programme. It is designed to help students improve their personal and professional skills, and prepare them for the world of work. Participants are matched to mentors based on their course and career interests. The programme runs for six months, from November through to May. If you would like to get involved as a mentor, please contact us.

Volunteer Showcase

The volunteer showcase takes place every September and runs over three days with different local organisations attending each day. It provides students with an opportunity to meet face to face with organisations that actively recruit volunteers. Please contact us if you would like to take part in the next event to promote your volunteering opportunities to our students.

The Principal's Award

The Principal's Award is a short student employability programme that runs over one academic year. It recognises and rewards a student's work-related skills and achievements. Employers can contribute to elements of the award by offering sessions in topics such as presentation skills and workplace expectations. Mock interviews are an essential part of the award and we are keen to hear from employers willing to offer these.

Work Placements

Gaining relevant work-based experience is at the core of many of our degree programmes. Courses are designed to offer flexibility to give students the opportunity to participate in work placements or projects. These can vary from one day a week to a short-term full-time placement. If you have a project or other opportunity you would like to offer to a student, please contact us and we will put you in touch with our specialist work placement advisors.

Santander Employability Scheme

Abertay University have partnered with Santander Universities to offer funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the Santander Universities Employability Scheme. The initiative provides employers with funding to recruit a current Abertay student or graduate to work on a project within the business. Projects can be on a flexible part-time or full-time basis, ranging from 2 to 3 weeks in duration. The scheme is often run during the summer vacation but can start earlier in semester 2 to fit around a student’s study commitments.
