I am truly grateful for the practical learning opportunities that Abertay offers, which have prepared me for the real-world challenges in my field.Patricia Lopes Da Veiga | Abertay University | MEng Civil and Environmental Engineering
You have an offer from Abertay. The next step is to let UCAS know your decision.
You can make Abertay your firm choice (your first preference), your insurance choice (your backup if you do not meet the conditions of your firm offer), or decline. Log into your UCAS Hub to reply.
An unconditional offer means you've already met our entry requirements. Once you accept us as your firm choice, your place is confirmed. You don't need to do anything else until it's time to enrol.
A conditional offer means you still need to meet certain conditions before your place is confirmed. This usually means achieving specific grades in your SQA Highers, A-levels or equivalent qualifications.
Keep working towards those results. When your results come through in August, we'll check them against your conditions and confirm your place. If your results are not quite what you expected, don't panic. We review every application individually on results day and will be in touch directly.
UCAS sets your personal reply deadline based on when you receive decisions from all your chosen universities. You can check your deadline in your UCAS Hub at any time.
For the 2026 cycle, the key deadlines are:
| If you receive all decisions by ... | Reply by ... |
| 31 March 2026 | 6 May 2026 |
| 15 May 2026 | 3 June 2026 |
| 15 July 2026 | 23 July 2026 |
If you received your offer through Clearing, check your offer letter for your specific instructions.
This is your first preference. If you hold a conditional offer and meet the conditions, this is where you'll go. If your firm offer is unconditional, your place is confirmed as soon as you accept.
This is your backup. It should normally be a university where the entry requirements are lower than your firm choice, so that if you don't quite get the grades for your firm, you still have a place. If your firm offer is unconditional, you don't need to set an insurance choice.
If you don't meet the conditions of either your firm or insurance offer, you'll be eligible for Clearing in August. Don't worry about this now. Focus on your exams and we'll help you through the process if it comes to it.
After you've made Abertay your firm choice, here's what to do next:
Apply for your funding (April onwards)
Apply for accommodation
Book an offer holder event if you have not already
Join the offer holder community to meet other students
No. You don't need to reply until you have received decisions from all five of your UCAS choices. UCAS will set your deadline once all decisions are in.
You'll have received instructions with your offer letter by email. If you're unsure, contact our admissions team at admissions@abertay.ac.uk or call 01382 308080.
You can change your firm and insurance choices up until your UCAS reply deadline. After that, changes are only possible in certain circumstances. Contact UCAS directly if you need to make a change.
We consider deferrals on a case-by-case basis. Contact our admissions team at admissions@abertay.ac.uk to discuss your options. If you're planning a gap year, it's better to ask before you accept rather than after.
If you don't reply by your UCAS deadline, your offers will automatically be declined. Make sure you log into your UCAS Hub and reply in time.
