The close-knit community at Abertay made learning more personal. It really helped me build confidence and feel supported throughout my studies.Niamh Bethway | Abertay University | BA (Hons) Marketing and Business Management
Whether you're moving to Dundee for the first time, already living locally or are looking for somewhere private, here's what you need to know about where you'll be living.
We’ve partnered with iQ Student Accommodation to offer a limited number of rooms at Parker House at a preferential rate exclusively for Abertay students. These rooms are priced below iQ’s standard rate and they’re allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once our preferential-rate rooms are allocated, Parker House may still have rooms available at iQ’s standard rate, and Dundee has several other quality providers too.
All rooms in Parker House are en-suite with showers, and sizes range from singles to doubles to studios. There are social spaces with pool tables, a laundry, a 24/7 gym and round the clock security. Very close to major supermarkets and the city centre. All flats have shared kitchens and are mixed female and male - there are no single sex flats in Parker House.
Parker House isn’t your only option. Dundee has a range of quality student accommodation at different price points and locations:
Telephone House (launching September 2026)
Staying at one of the above means you'll be sharing with people studying elsewhere. You must contact them directly and Abertay has no special arrangements or rent discounts with them.
Plenty of Abertay students live at home in Dundee, Angus, Fife or Perth and Kinross. This is a completely normal choice and doesn't mean you'll miss out on student life.

You'll still have full access to all campus facilities, the library, clubs and societies, support services and everything else. Freshers' Week, for example, is for everyone, not just those living in halls.
If you're commuting, Dundee is a compact city that's easy to get to. The campus is in the city centre, a short walk from the train and bus stations.

If you prefer to rent privately, Dundee has plenty of affordable options. Average student rent in Dundee is approximately £350-£550 per month for a room in a shared flat.
Useful places to search:
SpareRoom (spareroom.co.uk) for shared flats
Rightmove (rightmove.co.uk) for all rental properties
Dundee Citylets (citylets.co.uk) for local listings
Typically early Spring. You'll receive an email once applications are live. You need to have firmly accepted your Abertay offer on UCAS before you can apply.

No accommodation application is needed. Just make sure you've firmly accepted your offer and applied to SAAS or the relevant funding body.
