Travel Contribution Scheme for Offer Holders 2026 - Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

1.1 The travel contribution (reimbursement of permitted travel costs) is available to Abertay University Offer Holders, who:

Have received an offer (conditional or unconditional) for a full time, on campus, undergraduate degree starting in September 2026.
Have registered in advance and attend the designated on campus Offer Holder Day on the specified date.
Have a confirmed fee status of 'Scottish'
Have an address, as detailed on their UCAS application, more than 40 miles from Abertay University campus. Distance is calculated as a straight-line measurement from the centroid of the applicant's home postcode to DD1 1HG.

1.2. The contribution is available to the eligible offer holder. Travel costs of family members or guests will not be reimbursed.

1.3. The offer holder must attend the event in person and check in at the official registration point for their attendance to be verified.

The contribution is available for attendance at one event only, If an offer holder attends a second event, travel costs associated with that event will not be reimbursed.

2. Covered Travel Costs

2.1. Eligible travel costs may include:

Standard class return rail to Dundee.
Bus travel where the offer holder is not eligible for the Young Persons' (Under 22) Free Bus Travel.
Car parking fees incurred on the day of the associated offer holder event

2.2. The scheme does not cover

First class or upgraded tickets
Taxi fares
Food, accommodation, parking fees incurred outside the day of the event, or incidental expenses
Travel undertaken by parents / guardians or guests

3. Contribution Amount

3.1. The maximum reimbursable amount is £50 per offer holder

3.2. If the total cost of travel is lower than the maximum allowance, only the actual cost, supported by valid documentation, will be reimbursed.

3.3. If travel costs exceed the maximum allowance, the offer holder is responsible for any additional amount.

4. Evidence Required

4.1. All claims must be supported by valid documentation, which may include:

Original receipts
E-tickets
Booking confirmations
Screenshots of digital tickets (with date, time and price clearly visible)

4.2. Incomplete, illegible, or missing evidence may result in the claim being rejected.

5. Claim Process

5.1. Claims must be submitted by emailing sro@abertay.ac.uk within 14 days of attending the event. Within your claim request you must include:

Your Student ID number
Full name
Date of Offer Holder Day attended
Receipts or supporting documentation evidencing travel costs
Name of bank account (if different to name of applicant)
Account number and sort code required for payment

5.2. Payments will only be paid into a UK bank account under the offer holder's name, or parent / guardian.

5.3. The university aims to process all reimbursement claims by the end of the month after the event has taken place (for example, claims for events in March will be paid at the end of April).

6. Limitations and Conditions

6.1. The university reserves the right to refuse reimbursement where:

The applicant does not attend the event
Attendance cannot be verified
The claim exceeds permitted limits
The claim is submitted after the stated deadline
Evidence provided does not meet requirements

6.2. The travel contribution has no cash equivalent and cannot be transferred to other events

6.3. Reimbursements are subject to available funding and will be processed in the order in which complete claims are received. The university is not obligated to reimburse claims once the allocated budget has been exhausted.
