Learning and Assessment

This programme is unique as it focusses on three key strands which are central to accounting and finance for future energy security:

Accountability – the provision of accounts to relevant stakeholders, identifying the financial and non-financial impacts of energy companies’ operations and activities, and delivering these using the most appropriate reporting media.

Financial Analysis – using various tools to evaluate finance and investment decisions relating to clean energy systems such as fusion nuclear, wind, solar, and hydro power.

Sustainability – considering how energy companies can contribute to the overall needs of society without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs in keeping with variable external factors.

On Graduating the Programme, You Will

On graduating from the programme, you’ll be able to prepare, analyse and interpret various accounting reports and financial statements for energy companies. You’ll learn to critically analyse carbon accounting and sustainability information and will have developed the skills to analyse energy markets and apply methods and techniques to evaluate financing and investing decisions for clean energy projects.

Instead of the traditional research-based dissertation, this programme enables you to harness your learning from the full programme by working on a capstone project. This project will provide an opportunity to analyse a current industry problem or challenge and develop justifiable recommendations for industry solutions.

You’ll learn via traditional lectures, tutorials and seminars, which will be supported by online resources. During your face-to-face sessions with academics and peers, you’ll be encouraged to engage and actively participate through questions and class discussions.

Depending on the nature of each module, you’ll be assessed through class tests, assignments, oral presentations and case studies.
