The new V&A Museum of Design is fast becoming a landmark on Dundee’s waterfront, and will most definitely be the heart of the UK’s only UNESCO City of Design when it opens to the public in 2018. It really does put Dundee on the map, as it’s the only V&A Museum of Design to be found outside of London. In launching this competition, we’re keen to extend its ethos of new perspectives, bringing people together, and inspiring creativity for the future to the secondary school children of Scotland and therefore we’d like to encourage as many school pupils as possible get involved and have fun!
Secondary school pupils in years 4 - 6 will work in small groups and conceptually design a viewing platform to overlook Dundee’s Waterfront. In following the design brief, each group will have a design which, in theory, gives un-restricted views of the city and the V&A Museum from across the River in Newport-on-Tay.
All submissions will be shortlisted and the finalists invited to Abertay University in Dundee to build their designs within our bespoke Engineering Labs. The winning team will be decided by our judging panel of BEng/MEng placement partners who will be present on the day. This is a fantastic opportunity to for pupils to meet current engineers from a range of organisations and to meet the team behind the top civil engineering programme in Scotland!

Date of Final: Tuesday 20th February 2018
