Conquering the Uncanny Valley Using Photogrammetry

"Conquering the Uncanny Valley Using Photogrammetry" is a 2022 Digital Graduate Show project by Stuart McQuade, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.

Synopsis

A look into photogrammetry and how it can be used to construct hyper-realistic characters for movies and games. This covers a wide range of uses and methods for creating textures, assets, and clothing, and then merging these methods to achieve results that don’t fall in to uncanny valley territory in order to deepen a player's or audience's immersion in the world. Showing the findings and results as 3D models that can be used as game assets and as high-quality rendered images.
