Multi-Mode FPS Level Design

This project explores different methods of level design in order to explore the possibilities of creating a level which can serve the purpose of a number of different game modes. The goal is to determine key design methods which can serve as a basis for level designers in the future. This would minimise the amount of levels that would have to be created and allow for resources to be allocated elsewhere. This project will also consider player types and apply this where necessary to achieve the ultimate goal of creating levels which can improve the user experience.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

When I was younger, I had an intertest in architecture and then I grew up playing a lot of games. Level design serves both of these interests and allows me to pursue something I wish to be a part of going forward.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

DES310, where I had the opportunity of working with different people in the industry. I worked on a project called Half-Baked with Crows in a Crisis and overall felt this module combined with my team who I worked with gave me a wealth of experience going forward.

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

One of my main goals is to work as a level designer on a competitive shooter. However, I would enjoy the ability to work as a level designer on any project as that is a passion of mine.
