Ruby Severin Whitworth

Limited Animation and 3d Visual Novels

Synopsis

Limited animation is a selection of principles used in animated projects, often made by smaller teams and indie companies. These principles are still used by bigger budget projects and large teams so it can also be a stylistic choice, as seen in a lot of Japanese animation (anime). Limited animation also links 3D animation back to the roots of visual novels as a medium. This is key to this project as I am creating my own 3D visual novel to explore this topic stylistically.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

The work on this project has been a big interest to me for many years. Doing this honours project was a great chance to jump deeper into the topics being explored.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

The amazing staff who have helped me across my time on the course as I develop as an artist and work out where I want to end up in the industry.

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

After graduation I want to work across games, TV and film to assist in the creation of animation work. I want to work with the technical implementation of animations into game engines, such as Unreal Engine.
