Tomes: The Not-So Trading Card Game

An attempt to port trading card game mechanics into a one-time purchase format to remove the financial barrier to entry. Made to be accessible to those both familiar and unfamiliar with the genre. Create a deck or pick from a premade template and play with your friends. Use spell and creature cards in combination to whittle down your opponents' health to win. Meant to be super replayable and customisable with over 80 unique cards for you to create a multitude of strategies with.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

I love trading card games as a genre, but cannot play them as much as I would like as they are such an expensive hobby. I knew I wasn't alone in that experience, so I wanted to see how feasible it would be to create a game that provided a similar gameplay experience but that removed the luck and financial barriers inherent to current TCGs, which would allow both veterans and newbies to the genre to be able to experience and enjoy it.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

Dare academy and all the opportunities that came with it. It was an amazing experience and helped me grow as a game designer in so many ways.

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

To start an indie games company and to continue to create games I can look back and be proud of.
