Finding yourself - A Positive Disfigurement Representation

"Finding yourself - A positive disfigurment representation" is a 2022 Digital Graduate Show project by Natalia Rapala, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.

Synopsis

This is a silent book, showing parts of the everyday struggles people with disfigurement experience in their lives because of stereotype, misinformation, lack of normalisation and fair representation. The book ‘silently’ follows the development of a girl with facial disfigurement towards self-acceptance, which can be tricky for everyone, specially in a society controlled by media. A silent book is a book that has little or no words, and has been chosen as a genre for this project as these issues still don’t have a proper voice.
