Synopsis
This trailer would work as a pitch for an adult animated series. It would not be appropriate for younger viewers as it would feature violence, mature themes and inappropriate language. The narrative focus of the trailer would be of a young superhero who has been dealt an unfortunate card in his life and uses is motivated to be a superhero for escapism. The research focus of my project is queer representation. This is reflected in the use of LGBT characters, the colour palette and the effort I put into keeping the characters from being one dimensional or stereotypical.
What motivated you to develop/create this project?
For the past few years, I have had the characters and stories depicted in my animation in my head for years. I have been developing these characters' personalities, designs and stories, and my hons year gave me the opportunity to develop them further and to pitch this as a potential animated series.
What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?
Working on my honours and the positive responses.
What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?
Get a job related to character design or animation. My long-term goal is to use this trailer as a pitch to develop an adult animated series.
