Time Crunch

Time Crunch is a 3D platformer with time control as the core mechanic of the game. Players will be able to use three different time powers that can help them in overcoming the many obstacles and challenges that they will face. They can slow down everything around them except themselves to make platforming easier, make themselves move faster to outrun traps or leap across long distances, or rewind time to get out of dangerous situations. The project will be showcasing the tutorial/first level of the game so that new players can get used to how the character moves and have a better understanding of how each time power works.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

I have been wanting to do a 3D platformer for some time as I have fond memories of the genre and thought that time control would be a cool ability for the player to have. I had first made this project back in 3rd year where I focused on building the character movement and time powers and felt like I could a lot more with that prototype, so I decided to build a level around it.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

I have had the most fun creating with a group of people, whether it was a big project or a game jam. Having the chance to meet different people who are all working towards a common goal made me feel like I was not alone.

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

My short-term goal is to find work in the industry so that I have that experience under my belt. My long-term goal is to hopefully create something that I will be known for when I'm gone. Very ambitious, I know, but it is a goal that I want to achieve.
