A Study Of Acting Performance To Enhance Animated Performance

“A Study Of Acting Performance To Enhance Animated Performance” is a 2021 Digital Graduate Show project by Mark Tempest-Mitchell, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.

Synopsis

Animation is an illusion; 3D animation is a digital form of puppetry. Unlike physical puppetry, a digital pre-rendered realm allows the puppeteer to have absolute control over the characters. The trick is understanding how to make a character act. Any animator can animate character actions and emotions, but to animate them in character - who they are, what their experience is, their relationships and where they are in a narrative - that is what this study aims to explore.
