Planetaria

Synopsis

Planetaria is a 3D Environment VR immersive walkthrough experience where you journey through a new planet's natural beauty. It was made to create an accessible form of escapism for everyone to be able to relax and destress from day-to-day life. Most people suffer from anxiety and have little to no way of managing it, so I wanted to create a calming experience for others who might suffer like I do. Sometimes all you need is to put on a headset, sit back and relax as you are taken on a walk to enjoy a fantasy-themed view.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

I wanted to create a peaceful VR experience that could be used to decrease stress and anxiety from day-to-day life. It’s nice to take a moment to yourself and escape into a beautiful world and just go for a walk in nature. We all need a moment away from our everyday life to breathe - why not have it be accessible to everyone?

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

I absolutely loved working in a team with the programming course (CGAD)! It was amazing to work with people with different skills and be able to combine my own skills to actually make a product. By the end of it I made new friends, networked and was able to put my name on a game that I took part in making!

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

After graduation I am hoping to go on to create more games and experiences. To hopefully create something that can make a difference to people no matter how small. Currently my project is to help alleviate stress and anxiety, and I hope to continue creating things like this that can bring joy and some fun to people’s lives.
