Procedural Level Generation Supporting Traversal Mechanics

A project which explores how procedural generation of game levels can be successfully integrated into parkour mechanics in video games to create a fun, randomly-generating environment for players to utilise the mechanics in. By using rules to generate different pathways and obstacles based on mechanics such as wall-running, vaulting and mantling different levels will be generated. This research investigates ways to generate levels while allowing for a high level of designer control within the Unreal Engine.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

I've always had a huge interest in procedural generation and wanted to dive in and learn more about how it works, and this has been the perfect opportunity for that.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

Seeing how far I've come from the start of my time here and all the friends I've made during the past four years.

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

Start working in industry while working on my personal portfolio to expand my knowledge.
