Use of automation within technical animation in context of atypical models.

'Use of automation within technical animation in context of atypical models.' is a 2023 Digital Graduate Show project by Jaromír Stifter, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.

Synopsis

My project consists of auto rigging solutions research, subsequent rig production, identification of processes that would be suitable for automation and finally the automation development itself. The self-produced rig serves as a template for the auto rigging solution development and informs the requirements of the tools. From examination of rigging within the relevant production emerge the processes for automation. These identified processes require deep understating of underlying structure of how they are executed to be able to recreate them with code. Once the core functionality is satisfactory, the focus can shift towards the ease of use creating a user interface. Through this project, I want to enhance my rigging skills, learn about the use and development of auto-rigging solutions, and apply a self-developed tool in my rigging process.
