Watercolour rendering in a 3D real-time environment using temporal coherence

Synopsis

I have created a watercolour post-processing effect by using NPR directed filtering techniques. Creating a graphics pipeline that has multiple shaders that manipulate the vertices of objects and pixels on screen. As you are changing each frame as they are being rendered, issues with visual integrity show through unwanted artefacts and noise. I have also implemented temporal coherence techniques that use previous frame data to blend between frames that help create a visually stable or visually coherent scene.
