A 2D platformer game based around the theme of imposter syndrome. The game will contain some light puzzle elements as well as enemy encounters throughout it. Representations of imposter syndrome will be present throughout the game, either explicitly or implicitly, through a combination of NPC dialogue interactions and character/enemy designs. The game is expected to be of a relatively short length, with estimations of a maximum playtime of roughly 15-20 minutes, culminating in a final encounter and accompanying ending segment.
Imposter syndrome is a condition that is frequently experienced by people and it can cause them various different problems such as low self esteem. It is a condition that I have experienced myself, often catching myself belittling my own accomplishments or not acknowledging them as such. As a result, I wanted to create a game that would put this condition in the spotlight and spread awareness about the condition and its effects. To my knowledge, there aren't really any computer games currently available that attempt to focus on this condition and I felt that this is a topic that deserves more attention than it gets at this point in time, which is why I chose to do so as my project.
My main hopes and future ambitions for after graduation are to be able to get a job within the games industry so that I can help to be a part of the production of the types of games I have been obsessed with since I was a kid.
