Arcadia's Edge

My project is focused on cinematic techniques such as camera movement and position and how it affects the storytelling in the game trailer. It will be a minimum of a minute-and-a-half cinematic trailer following the main character who likes to stand up for what’s right. It will be set in a cyberpunk dystopian city with assets being sourced online, as my main focus for this project is camera techniques. It will include the main character running down an alley being chased by a group of people and then rescued by a mysterious person who was overhearing their conversation.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

I felt motivated for this project as I find cinematic trailers and cutscenes very appealing. Using Unreal Engine for filming cutscenes and game trailers made it very interesting and piqued my curiosity in wanting to focus my skills in this area for my future career path.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

I think the highlight of being at Abertay is being able to have access to a range of subjects and get to learn from lecturers who have been in the gaming industry. That alone has helped me prosper at Abertay, and I am excited for the future and what will happen next after my studies.

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

My hope is to secure a job as a cinematic artist as I have been exploring what I wanted to focus on. I delved into this area in my third year and it really stuck to me which makes me want to do my best and excel in this field of work.
