Rent Strikes on the Clyde

My project is a top down, educational narrative experience set in Govan during the rent strikes of WW1. The player will explore these events as a young boy that has had to leave school early to find work as a messenger. The game explores the role of women in organising the strikes, as well as the conditions that led to them organising. The player will meet plenty of characters throughout the game, all reflecting different experiences and events that people had lived through during this point time.

What motivated you to develop/create this project?

A personal interest in history, more specifically the rent strikes in Glasgow. I wanted to create something set during these historic events that taught people about the history and how it affected the people living through it.

What has been a highlight of your time at Abertay?

The fantastic lecturers and friends I've met.

What are your hopes and future ambitions for after graduation?

To continue making games that mean something to me, and hopefully a job.
