SOLUS: Centurion - How We Can Use Silhouette, Shape Design, Colour and Texture To Evoke Fear

Warning: The content of this project is designed for the Horror genre and may include visuals that could make viewers uncomfortable. The character designs in this project are not historically accurate and have been created based on how a terrified Roman Soldier would imagine them to look. 'SOLUS: Centurion' places the player in the shoes of a terrified and lost Roman Centurion on his mission to survive attacks from nightmare-ish Picts and make it back to the safety of Hadrian's Wall. As the Centurion's fear rises, he begins to lose his grip on reality and the Picts are imagined through the twisted perspective of a scared Roman.

This project is a concept art portfolio that includes the 4 main character designs in the universe of SOLUS: Centurion. These include: Roman Centurion, the player character; the Pictish Soldier, a mindless killing machine; the Druids, rulers of Pictland and main antagonists; and the Spectres, ghostly apparitions of the Roman dead, summoned by the Druids to haunt the Roman player.

Project Motivation

I am interested in history and specifically the rich history of Britain and its people, and the Picts hadn't been explored that much.
