A Visual Exploration of Abstract Art-Horror

I have a profound love for the horror genre. It's incredibly versatile, able to touch on all corners of life. It allows so much to be expressed and explored, as the artist as well as the audience. Creating horror art, and horror characters specifically, allows me to do exactly that, with my own visual twist on it. As is the nature of being an artist, there is always more room to grow and develop. This research project is based on that premise. I wish to strengthen my abilities, both to be more prepared for the industry, and to see my own artistic progression through this exploration.

A Visual Exploration of Abstract Art-Horror

Fuelled by a genuine curiosity, passion, and a strong want to tell stories through my own creations, this project explores the visual imagery of abstract art-horror on a more personal level.

"A Visual Exploration of Abstract Art-Horror" is a 2022 Digital Graduate Show project by Ranald Groves, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.

Project Motivation

I love horror media, and I love creating art in the style. I wanted to explore a more abstract 'art-house' side of the genre, as well as develop my skills.
