The university is the most northern Science and Arts University in Europe. There are approximately 4400 students enrolled here, and the close-knit community makes for a great opportunity to meet students from all over the world. The university is in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland. Rovaniemi is a gateway town to the artic, situated right on the Arctic Circle, and bordering the Northern Ostrobothnia region, west Sweden, Norway and east Russia. Lapland is home to about 3.4% of Finland's population and is the least densely populated area in the country. It is also the home of Santa Claus, and his office at Santa Claus Village is just 8.6 km from the centre of Rovaniemi. In Lapland, every day could be Christmas!
