The city is ranked 11th out of 200 cities worldwide in Mercer’s 2016 “Quality of living Survey”. 94% of students polled in the pan-European “international student barometer” were satisfied with safety in the city an 94% said that it “was the place to be”.
The famous canals, flowing throughout the city of Amsterdam, have been added to the UNESCO world heritage list. Amsterdam is the cultural capital of the Netherlands, the ideal place for an international education. The city has a host reasons as to why it hosts more than 5 million international visitors annually. The city’s main attractions are the aforementioned historic canals, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, Hermitage Amsterdam, Anne Frank House, and Amsterdam Museum to name of a few. For students that like to travel and explore, the city is well connected with the rest of Europe. The proficiency for English in the Netherlands is higher than most other European countries, so there will be no fear of a language barrier for students who do not speak Dutch.
