NHTV Breda is an international higher education institution, with about 7,700 students from over 60 countries. The university has a strong international outlook. Most of the Bachelors programmes and all Masters programmes are taught in English and 13% of the total student population is international. NHTV applies 'action learning' rather than traditional 'receiving' education, with students designing and directing their own plan of study.
Breda is a historical city with around 180,000 inhabitants and approximately 20,000 young people studying there. It was voted the Best City Centre of Holland in 2011, and is only 100 km from both Amsterdam and Brussels. It is home to a cosy mix of bistros and shops. Every year about a quarter of a million visitors from all over the world make their way to Breda for the oldest and largest open-air jazz festival in Holland.
