Offer Holder FAQs

We know that getting your offer is exciting and tense at the same time, and you're bound to have lots of questions.

We have Applicant Days exclusively for offer holders like you and if you can make it, a visit will cover everything you need to know. These are held in the spring, so check your emails about how to book. If you can't visit us, there are plenty of answers on this page, plus our friendly team are always here to help you.

What are the term dates?

Is my course fully online?

No, you'll need to attend classes on campus.

How many hours a week do I need to be on campus?

It depends on the course. Whatever you’ve chosen, you’ll be on campus for teaching every week. We're currently using a mix of in-person and online teaching called blended learning.

Teaching arrangements for 2022/23 will be in line with Scottish Government guidance at that time.

What days of the week will I be on campus?

This depends on your chosen course. Classes normally take place Monday-Friday. You’ll get the full details when you receive your timetable during Registration.

Can I see my timetable now?

Not yet. Once you register for your course here at Abertay we are able to create your timetable. This happens in August and normally takes up to four working days after you have registered.

We can't send it out earlier because it doesn't exist until you are a registered Abertay student. In some cases it may take longer to create, but rest assured you'll have it before you start your course.

Your timetable is accessed via your Abertay IT account so make sure you check your emails from Abertay. Please set up your IT account as soon as you can and keep hold of the login details. You'll use this account often, including to access your timetable.

Can I visit the university in person?

Yes. We run Applicant Days when you can visit campus and ask all the questions you need.  Keep an eye on your emails about how to book.

Can I meet the course tutor(s)?

Yes, you’ll meet the tutors at our Applicant Days. Keep an eye on your emails about how to book.

Can I visit the student accommodation?

Accommodation tours are run during Applicants Visit Days. We may be able to arrange visits outside that, but the halls are owned by private companies so it's up to them. Please contact residences@abertay.ac.uk who can advise you.

In the meantime, you’ll find lots of information about our student accommodation in the Accommodation section.

Where do I find out about additional funding such as childcare?

There’s detailed information about bursaries, scholarships and funds in our Undergraduate Money, Fees and Funding section.

For Scottish students, there's a Discretionary Childcare Fund available from SAAS. You apply for that through the University.

For other questions about funding, please email the advisory team.

Where do I find out about disability support?

Please visit the Disability Support page for full details or email the advisory team if you have a specific question.

Can I park my car on campus?

Bell Street Multi- Storey car park is next to the library. We don’t have any student parking spaces on campus.

What student societies are there?

Can I change my course if I decide I don’t like it?

Several of our degrees follow a common pathway structure (such as accounting, sport, business and psychology) which allow you to switch to another related degree as your interests develop. Check out our course pages for more information.

Changing to an entirely different course is very unlikely. There are a large number of factors involved, such if there are any spaces available and whether you’ve got the relevant qualifications. It can only be done during the first two weeks of your first term and you would need to speak to SEZ first of all.

What’s the best way to travel to Dundee?

It really depends where you are coming from! Our How to Find Us page covers getting here by car, train, bus or plane.

How do I accept my offer in UCAS?

Log in to your UCAS Hub account and accept it there.

Visit our page about how to accept your offer for full details.

I still have a question, who should I contact?
