Welcome to Abertay sports clubs

Abertay University Dundee is one of the newest and most innovative universities in the UK. We are extremely proud of our national and international successes in all areas of the University. As part of its commitment to the development of excellence, UAD has chosen to support and develop sport at all levels.

We currently have 18 sports club here at Abertay ranging from traditional teams sports such as football and rugby to individual sports such as boxing and snowsports.  For contact details for all the current sports clubs, contact the Sports Development Officer or the clubs directly.  For club captain contact details and more informartion please click on the clubs.

Women's Basketball

Women's Basketball has enjoyed a period of real strength, the club has continued to move forward and develop with ever increasing membership over the last five years. Read more 

Men's Basketball

The men's basketball club is one of our most successful clubs and are looking forward to the new season. We are keen to take on new members of all levels. Read more 

Men's Football

We have two amazing teams competing in the BUCS and the BUCS Scottish 5A, rivalling clubs from all over Scotland. Read more 

Women's Football

Woman's Football is traditionally one of the strongest clubs at Abertay and have enjoyed much success. Read more 


The Abertay Badminton club compete in the BUCS leagues, Conference Cup and the Dundee Area Badminton Association competitions. The club welcomes beginners and recreational club players right up to the elite. Read more 

Men's Hockey

We have reached the final of the Conference cup and finished 4th in BUCS Scottish 2A last year. We're keen to recruit new members from all skill levels. Read more 

Women's Hockey

Our women's team is a vibrant and friendly club who have included Scotland and GB internationals as past members. We're keen to recruit new members from all skill levels. Read more 


The University golf club provides the opportunity for individual and team competition over the course of the academic year. Members of the club get the opportunity to play on some of Scotland's fantastic golf courses. Read more 

Men's Rugby

The team went on a winning streak last year beating every team in the league and not dropping a single point showing the talent of both the players and coaching team. Read more 

Women's Rugby

Woman's rugby is a growing team within Abertay Sport with a strong community link with Morgan FP RFC and under the guidance of Woman's Rugby Development Officer Ryan Beattie and captain Hayley Samuel. Read more 


For the last two years, Netball achieved the largest uptake of new club members proving that they are a welcoming and social club. This was matched by club's success reaching their highest ever league standing. Read more 


The tennis club enjoy the benefits of an established community link with a local club. They play their tennis out of West End Tennis Club which provides opportunities for further player development through access to coaching qualifications. Read more 


Last year Volleyball was one of the Universities most successful clubs, the Women won BUCS 2A, the SSS cup and beat Dundee University during Varsity, not be outdone the men also added to the trophy cabinet winning the men's SSS cup alongside the women. Read more 


Abertay Dance Club have been running for a number of years. They have consistently been one of the most proactive clubs at the university raising cash for charity and the further development of the club. Read more 


The club grow from strength to strength finishing with one of the highest memberships last year. The team compete and train at Gardyn Campus where they have access to the 25 metre pool. Read more 


The Triathlon team became a fully-fledged Abertay Sport club last year, throughout the season the club members competed in numerous events travelling as far afield as Liverpool to compete in the standard distance championship. Read more
