My academic background is psychology.  I graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with BA (Hons) in Psychology in 1984.  I also hold an MSc in Applications of Psychology, an MSc in Transactional Analysis Counselling and a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.

From a research perspective, my work focuses on the counselling process and the outcome of counselling for people with long-term health conditions.  I’m also interested in the experiences of therapy from the perspective of the client.

I have published extensively on the effectiveness of counselling, pluralistic counselling and psychotherapy and counselling for long term health conditions.
