I was appointed as a Lecturer in Law at Abertay in 2010
After working in journalism and local government for many years, I returned to education to study law, and graduated from Abertay with a first class honours degree in 2004.
I served as an elected representative of Dundee City Council for 13 years, including four years as depute-leader.
Between 1996 and 2007, I was a Justice of the Peace and member of the Justices of the Peace Advisory Committee OK for the City of Dundee District. I also undertook duties as a Prison Visitor at HMP Noranside/ HMP Glenochil/ HMP Cornton Vale.
Between 2010 and 2011, I was a Director of Dundee North Law Centre.
I have published on a variety of topics and am the author of Legal Research Skills for Scots lawyers.
My current research interests include the free movement of personal data in the context of information security and contemporary issues in intellectual property law .
